CHARLESTON, SC –

Bulldog senior quarterback Ben Dupree has been selected as one of 32 Football Championship Subdivision signal callers on the College Football Performance Awards watch list for the upcoming 2013 season.

Dupree, from Harrisburg, Pa., enters his final year at The Citadel with 1,671 rushing yards, ranking 17th in school history and trailing only Jack Douglas (3,908) and Stanley Myers (2,055) among Bulldog quarterbacks. Dupree needs 329 yards to become the 11th player to reach 2,000 yards on the ground.

He has scored 18 touchdowns in his career to place 11th in The Citadel record book. Through the air he has completed 53 of 103 passes (51.5 percent) for 656 yards and three touchdowns.

Last year Dupree started all 11 games for the second straight season and carried 161 times for 839 yards and nine touchdowns while hitting on 25 of 45 passes for 387 yards and three scores. He ranked ninth in the Southern Conference in rushing and 10th in total offense.

Dupree was the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a career-high 180 yards and two touchdowns and throwing for another 56 yards to lead the Bulldogs to a 52-28 win at Appalachian State. He also had two rushing touchdowns against Charleston Southern and Western Carolina and added a 100-yard game against Elon.

The Bulldogs open the 2013 season at home on August 31 against Charleston Southern.
