Citadel athletes win four events at Gamecock Open

COLUMBIA – Four Citadel athletes took first in their events at the Gamecock Open this weekend at the USC Indoor Complex.

Jamaal Brantley won the 55 and posted his career-best time of 6.44. D avid Melton and Mark Boozer took first and second place in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13 feet, 11.25 inches and 13-5.25, respectively.Dylan Gidado finished first and set his personal best in the shot put with a heave of 48-8.

On the women’s side, Savannah Emmrich won the pole vault with a jump of 10 feet. Tanisha Bethel finished second in the 55 with a season-best time of 7.31.
The Bulldogs are next at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., on March 1.
